Default Your guild wars story involving Joining, leaving, and making Guilds

In this thread I want to know want guild did you start at then how many guilds did you leave and make here's my story

I started as a not a super noob but just someone adjusting to Guild Wars and I was indepentant will after Presearing.

Then I met a officer in a guild that invited me after I got out of pre-sear becuase I had een advertising that I wanted to join a guild. THE GUILD WAS CRAPPY. I left and if I could I'd stomp that cape into the ground.

Then I met an officer of the setnal (yes I know it is misspelled and is a crappy name) Even though the cape was bad it was a friendly and helpful guild that helped me till I think nolini whihc I worked till desert and then asked the guild to help me.

However (this is where it gets interesting) the leader was becoming inactive. I had become a strong player and was given the rank of officer and never failed to recuit and help guildies. The leader was not doing his part and members constantly wanted ME to change policies. I slowly became more wanting to leave this guild and then I decided to start a revolution I told my best friends to spread the word that we ere going to leave.

The day that we decided to split and the day was not one I am proud of. It was choas ppl pming who should be leader and want our name should be TS was crazy and choas contuined till one member went and formed his own guild which everyone followed.

Slowly everyone started to relize that this was becoming a new setnal guild we started to plan a new spliting. However I DIDN'T want another split liek the one before and instead I rushed and created a guild Know as The Knights Of The True Light. Slowly old members arrived our guild is now 30+ members and there has been no talk changing ever since.

I lead The Knights Of The True Light and slowly it is becoming a great guild

Ok thats my story want is yours?

My story is actually pretty similar, after getting out of pre searing a joined up with a guild but quit not long after as they never did anything. I then joined another guild where i met some really nice people. This guild became inactive so the four of us started a new one. This was cool until the leader became a bastard and then was inactive 4 ages so we split into a new guild. This was doing well but then several of the top players (although we were only rank 3k, we had managed to beat rank 234) were inactive so this time i decided i would create my own guild, The Dawnthieves, i recruited the active players from the old guild and we grew to about 30 members inside 4 days. So far in just over a week we have had 8 (i think) guild matches although so far we havnt fought against less than rank 500 and have only won one GvG which has led 2 a couple of leavers and problems with recruiting. Spliting from a guild (as i have now done 3 times) is not fun but sometimes is necessary

I was running a clan on battlenet for Diablo 2 LOD and Starcraft when Guild Wars came out by the name of Eternal Forces Xtreme (EFX). Nearly all my members got Guild Wars, and we decided as a group to drop battlenet alltogether and stick with Arenanet. About midsummer everyone just stopped recruiting, was too busy doing they're own thing. The council and I decided it best if we all went our seperate ways since it was impossible getting everyone doing the same thing at the same time. Really we had become more of what we are now, friend listed available to help each other out if need, but not likely to play together other than chat. I ended up handing the Guild to one of my officers, which to this day keeps that for himself and his friend and redesigns cape to fit the current look he desires for his characters.

Since then, I bounced around a couple dozen guilds between my 2 accounts, most weren't even serious enough to have a website. Eventually I did some searching here and a couple other major fansites for guilds recruiting. I came across 3 that seemed to fit my gameplay style, and went to they're forums to further study. I chose KoA and haven't regretted it abit. 2 of my officers from EFX have joined as well, and while I keep in contact with most the former members of EFX, I think in the end this was best for everyone involved.

Started on GW because a couple of people I knew from other games played as well. We formed a guild and got a guild hall. We tried recruiting other folks, did some PvE stuff together, tried some PvP but people were not really into it. After a while people stopped logging on and I was often the only person in the guild around for days on end - typical inactivity scenario.

So I decided to start looking around at other guilds. Although the forums database is okay, it really doesn't give you a good sense of what each guild really is about, esp activity-wise. Eventually I decided to look into what guilds respected people on the forums here belonged to. Surprising enough, that led me to the same guild that Cam Payton above is in - Knights of the Alliance. At the time this was still a pretty small guild, but with fairly active folks and everyone was nice and helpful. And they were getting into PvP which I was really interested in. Unfortunately though, I am a PST player and most of the players in the guild at that time were further East - which meant that by the time I logged on at night, hardly anyone was on. Even though they scheduled PvP events, they were usually while I was still at work. So although I really liked and respected KoA and thought they were going places, I decided to look around some more.

Eventually I saw a post by Moskel in this very forum, and decided to check out Xen of Onslaught [XoO]. This was two months ago and I have been happy ever since. The guild was pretty good sized then (near the 100 player cap) and there were players on at all different times. And best of all they GvG'd lots every day and would let anybody who wanted come and do it. I was a pure PvP newb and 200+ GvGs later I find myself training other PvP newbs as XoO has expanded to 2 and finally 3 different guilds/divisions. What is especially nice is that although people are serious, most everyone is a working adult with RL commitments, so we play a lot and have fun, without a lot of the stress that might normally come with GvGing so much.

I started a guild whose name I had reserved since the beta. A bunch of people I work with were planning on getting the game, so I figured I'd finance the cape and hall, etc. Things went well for a few months, and we had up to 15 members (not bad for people who all work or know each other irl). Fortunately for me, but unfortunately for the guild, I got a promotion and my work schedule changed PLUS I was no longer working in the area with my guildmates anymore so I never got to see them. I decided to do the right thing, turned over my leadership to the second in command and left the guild. I'm hoping to find another guild that is at least fairly active, but I guess it looks bad with all my advanced characters and no guild affiliation. Oh well, I hope I can find one.

I was the second person in a new guild during the first week of public release. I was in it for a day - the guy was an idiot. Swearing, ignorant, just your average low life punk it turned out. Second guild, three members who weren't online ever and the Guild leader invited me then went AWOL for several days so I left.

Then I met SFIG and had some real fun. I helped the Officers and GL with the PvE a lot. Later on GL promoted me to Officer which did and didn't surprise me. The GL's work and other stuff IRL got the best of him and things weren't getting done so I stepped up and asked him if I could assume leadership. He agreed and I've been GL ever since. Through various other situations and one merger I'm now the GL of a 45+ member guild that's very active in PvE and I've been pushing PvP for a long while and all of the hard work and labor is finally bearing fruit. We have positive members that help each other, and the no swearing and no fighting (b/t member as well as with non-members) policy we have isn't a zero-tolerance policy, but repeat violations do have consequences as well as if they continute after a warning. Members know that I will kick people and demote Officers if needed to get the job done and that goes a long way in keeping quality people.

Right now my guild is going through a split, and that is where my tale starts, 5 months earlier from there hehee:

Birkler was the first guild i joined. They taught me the basics and were nice people. This was a few days after release so no one was lvl 20. We fought and quested together, for numerous illfaited hours.

When my first character reached the 3rd last mission i was in a group with a fittingly named "The Dream Team" because of our perfect co-operation. I extende guild invites to everyone in this group. Only 1 accepted. Virgil.

This was without a doubt my favourite person that i created a relationship with online. We gave items freely to eachother and always offered assistance.

After 5 such months of happily playing together i see a post in our message Board(2 days ago) that I failed to read because of spam. Before i can check what Vergil wrote my CA battle starts. Moments into the match Vergil whispers me and says, "I left Birkler."

I was shocked, but then remembered not to take him seriously because once he thought he left before and began panicking-the cape and guild screen dissapered.

He whispers me and tells me how sorry he is. I open the guild screen and see that it was no joke. My best virtual-buddy was gone. I was greatly disturbed by this and asked him why. Apparently people were bugging him terribly.

Two other members also left because our guild was struggling with gvg (rank 2000ish), eventhough we had sucess in tombs.

Today i long on to make a trade and my leader tells me that we are re-making Birkler. Is he kicking me? Will Virgil rejoin?

The new guild will be called, "Children of Birkler." It will compose of only those who our leader see's fit. I hope those who bug Vergil will not be allowed in, thus making it possible for him to return.

I'll edit this post as the Soap-Opera continues! Now isin't this more exciting then the O.C.!

I am pretty easy going. I joined the first guild that invited me in the Oct beta then all Nov beta i never heard from them at all. I was doing HoH a lot and joined 'Havoc Legion'. We PvPed hard nov and dec and jan beta events was great. then i realized that i wasn't gonna be able to participate as much as they wanted so i asked around the boards and fansites about a casual player guild. nada. i founded Odin's Hammer in feb beta and its been going strong ever since. it is up to 95 members as of this typing. i had step down as guild leader because i found i didn't have the time that it takes. i tried a lot of guilds and found them all to be wanting. so, i reapplied back to OH as new member and have been enjoying the atmosphere of the guild ever since.

ooo whoa well, thisl be fun. I saw this game at a friends house and i fell in love with it. The next 3 days i bought it. I played pre-searing alone cuz i was a loner in guild wars lmfao. When i got out of pre, i saw a guild advertizing in ascolon. DOFS NOW RECRUITING etc etc.... i asked if i could join and i warned them i was a noobie. But the leader said its fine hell help me. I spent around 2 months in that guild. Now since im a fast learner, i quickly surpassed everyone and became a guild officer. Now heres where it started to annoy me. I was getting better and better, but the guildies were staying the same. I eventually surpassed my leader which i thought was pro, but now i realize he was a huge noob. I got really bored and i thought i could do more, so, i left. I got days of hate messages... I was their best pvpier and without me they sucked monkey ballz at gvg... But eventualy it stopped. One day when i was soloing uw (yes this was one uw was not nerfed by a nerf bat the size of chicago* I met someone called uberz monk. I joined him as a nuking ele cuz my hands hurt from solo. We talked, i liked his style, and it ended up into him inviting me to the guild. This was great until the guild LEADER met me on ts... HE automatically hated me. I never even did anything but w/e. I only stayed in the guild cuz it was Pro-er than dofs and uberz monk was a good friend. But sadly, he got pissed at gw nerfing the monk, so he quit gw and went to war (hope hes ok . ). This is when i found THE FOUNDATION. a guild thats been around since beta. These guys were really pros, and they were all rich shitless. In the millions, all legit money, no ebay stuff. This worked for a very very long while. But some of us didnt like the lack of pvp, so everyone who enjoyed to pvp and pve (this guild was basicly only pve even tho we were rank 95). So we left and founded family dysfunctional. Full of uber pros who love pve and pvp. So far i am steady in this guild but who knowes where ill go.

Didn't Ali promote you while you were in KnV, Neo?

Default Too many guilds

I think the main problem is that there are way too many guilds.

Complaints about guilds are always the same:
Nobody online
Not enough pve help
Not enough pvp, gvg
Nobody on at my peak playing times
Leader/Officers are _______

All but one of these problems can be solved if there were simply less guilds. In order to achieve this, the cost of making a guild should be increased dramatically. This would also mean that guild leaders would be experienced players who are obviously dedicated players.

Very quick resume of my history.

presearing Ascalon -> engaged in the Avalon's Dragons guild without knowing how it happened.

Leaving Avalon's Dragons guild 'cuz they never helped me since I was like lv7 and they all were above lv20.

postsearing Ascalon -> caught up in the Dark Knight's guild because they had a very very cool cape!

Leaving Dark Knight's guild because they never helped me even if I had reached lv20...

by the end of the game -> tired of joining lame guilds, I decide to found my very very own guild.

Having my friends who, too, play GW join my Lumen et Tenebra guild.

Finding some other players that join my Lumen et Tenebra guild.

The guild works fine, people being kind. No heavy insults allowed. No unkindness allowed. People aren't forced to always come and help guildmates but they are forced to write a simple "sorry, I am busy now". People aren't forced to pay anything nor to join boring guild reunions.

My guild members decide to buy an hall and help me founding me with 80% of the needed money.

The sudden decline of the Lumen et Tenebra guild: their leader (me) has given them too much freedom and now they suddenly join, leave, and do whatever they please.

What remains of the glorious Lumen et Tenebra guild: a few players who remained loyal to me. Even though I remember the good old times when my guild was far more active, at last the remaining members are nice and trustable persons to play with.

I was a member of a multigaming clan long before my purchase of GW. They had a guild, and naturally the first day I signed on to the game, I was invited and accepted into the guild.

After about a month of play, it became apparent that their GW playing times did not coincide with mine, as well as the fact that they were mostly comprised of GvG players. In game, I had met a couple of great players who gave me advise and would always say hello and ask me if I needed any help with anything. Eventually, I got to the point where it just felt wrong that I was always playing with these people, (never my own guild) and decided to bow out of my previous one and joined up with DHC. (Been there ever since.)
